Canola Meal

December 8, 2020 by Madi

Product Description

Canola seed is grown for its high oil content typically 40-42 percent. The seed is processed whole with about 95 percent of the oil removed. The resulting meal is a valuable source of protein, fibre and fat for the livestock industry. Canola Meal is slightly less palatable than other oilseed meals and usually will take a few days for dairy cattle to adjust to after introduction.

Product Standard Specification

MJ ME/Kg DM:11.5MJ

Dry Matter: 89%

Protein: 38%

Starch: 2%

NDF: 27%

Feeding Recommendations and Storage

The benefit of Canola Meal are best when used as a balanced feed ration. Normally feeding rates for dairy cows are 0.5-2 kg per day. In grain mixes inclusion rates range from 10-30%. Canola Meal can be fed mixed with silage in the paddock or on the feed pad. It can also be fed via the grain feeding system in the dairy shed, by itself or mixed with other ingredients. Canola Meal is not suitable for ad-lib-feeding like Palm Kernel Meal.

Store in a dry area. Ensure all precautions are taken to store away from bird and rodent infestation.

Golden DDG

December 8, 2020 by Madi

Product Description

Golden DDGS is a corn based product which is produced as a byproduct of the yeast fermentation of gain to ethanol. They are medium protein and high energy consisting of a grain fraction and whole stillage. For ruminants, this palatable, low-starch product offers a high level of bypass protein, B vitamins, phosphorus, and highly digestible fibre. The product is fumigated before it is landed in NZ to MPI Standards. The product may be derived from GMO corn.

Product Standard Specification

MJ ME/Kg DM:13MJ

Dry Matter: 89%

Protein: 28%

Starch: 6%

NDF: 30%

Feeding Recommendations and Storage

Golden DDG is suitable to feed during any stage of the farm cycle when protein is needed in the diet. Feeding Golden DDG to dairy cows is a viable option to increase milk solid production by providing supplemental rumen undegradable protein and energy. Store in a dry area to maintain quality. Moisture can cause growth of moulds and toxins. Precautions should be taken against rodents and birds. It can be mixed with silage and other feeds in paddock or on a feed pad. Due to its free flowing nature, it is able to be fed via a grain feeding system in the dairy shed.
Store in a dry area. Ensure all precautions are taken to store away from bird and rodent infestation.

Dried Distillers Grain Pellets

December 8, 2020 by Madi

Product Description

A Coarse dark coloured free flowing pellet with a pleasant fermented odour. The product is the dried residue remaining after grain starches have been fermented in the process of producing bio ethanol in combination with yeasts and enzymes. This highly palatable meal is an excellent source of digestible protein and energy for cattle that is rich in cereal and residual yeast protein, minerals and vitamins. The product is known to be very beneficial to milk production and rumen health in dairy cows. The product does not contain any genetically modified organisms.

Product Standard Specification

MJ ME/Kg DM:13.5MJ

Dry Matter: 89%

Protein: 22%

Starch: 13%

NDF: 28%

Feeding Recommendations and Storage

It is recommended that a maximum of 20 percent of the total ration dry matter be fed. This equates to a maximum of 4-5kg per cow daily, but due to excellent product performance, lower levels of 2-3kg still produce good results when fed for most lactating cows. DDG can be mixed with silage and other feeds in the paddock or on a feed pad. Due to its free flowing nature, it is able to be fed via a grain feeding system in the dairy shed. Store in a dry area. Ensure all precautions are taken to store away from bird and rodent infestation.

Palm Kernel (PKE)

December 8, 2020 by Madi

Product Description

Palm Kernel Extract is a by-product of the palm oil industry in South East Asia. It is derived from the nut of the palm fruit after the oil is mechanically extracted. All Palm Kernel is sourced from approved MPI suppliers, meets MPI requirements and is certified GMO free. It is cost-competitive as a year round source of protein and dry matter. Feeding palm kernel to stock doesn’t require specialist machinery. The nutritional analysis makes it a safe feed supplement for dairy cattle, young replacement stock, dry cows, beef cattle, lamb, sheep and deer.

Product Standard Specification

MJ ME/Kg DM:12MJ

Dry Matter: 90%

Protein: 17%

Starch: 4%

NDF: 67%

Feeding Recommendations and Storage

Palm Kernel feeding levels range from 2-6kg per cow, with 2-3kg being the optimum in normal conditions.

Soy Bean Meal

December 7, 2020 by Madi

Product Description

Protein supplements like soybean meal can be fed to balance out low protein pasture and/or supplements. Under these circumstances soybean meal stimulates production levels. Soybean meal contains around 50 percent protein of which 35 percent is rumen ungradable (“by-pass”) and 65 percent is rumen degradable. Soybean meal is rich in lysine, and of the common plant proteins used in animal feeds, soybean meal has highest percentage of essential amino acids (47.6 percent).

Product Standard Specification

MJ ME/Kg DM:12.5MJ

Dry Matter: 90%

Protein: 48%

Starch: 2%

NDF: 12.3%

Feeding Recommendations and Storage

There is no maximum for the use of soybean meal in dairy rations, and can be fed to meet protein requirements. Normal feeding rates will be around 0.5-2kg per head per day. Soybean meal can be fed mixed with silage in the paddock or on the feed pad. It can also be fed via the grain feeding system in the dairy shed. Store in a dry area. Ensure all precautions are taken to store away from bird and rodent infestation.

Soya Hull Pellets

December 7, 2020 by Madi

Product Description

Soya Hull Pellets are a by-product of Soybean processing for oil and meal. As an alternative to high-starch grains, they are a very digestible source of energy and fiber. Low nonstructural carbohydrate content helps provide a favorable rumen fermentation pattern. Studies show lactating cows can peak earlier with greater production levels when included in their diet. Soya Hull Pellets are an ideal feed for providing easily extractable protein with low fat content.

Product Standard Specification

MJ ME/Kg DM:12MJ

Dry Matter: 91%

Protein: 11%

Starch: 1%

NDF: 61%

Feeding Recommendations and Storage

Excellent results can be achieved at rates between 2.5kg and 5.5kg per cow per day. Store in a dry area. Ensure all precautions are taken to store away from bird and rodent infestation.
